I brought in my father's old Seiko that had been sitting in a drawer for years. Somchai assessed it patiently and explained exactly what needed doing before I agreed to the restoration. When I picked it up it was running within a few seconds a day. I appreciated that nothing was started without my say-so.
What People Say After Bringing a Watch In
A selection of experiences from clients who've had work done at the workshop — from quick adjustments to full restorations.
Back to HomeA Few Words From Clients
My watch had a stiff crown — I'd been putting off dealing with it because I wasn't sure where to go. The Crown & Gasket service was exactly what it needed. The turnaround was fast and the price matched what I was quoted. I'll bring my other watches here too.
I've had two Quick Tunes done here. Both times the watch was back the same day, running better than before. The timing results were noted and shown to me — a small thing, but it shows care. Easy to recommend.
The workshop is small and calm — not intimidating. I came in not knowing what my grandfather's watch needed and left understanding it clearly. The restoration took three weeks. I was notified when the work began and again when it finished. The result was good.
I sent an enquiry by email and had a reply the next morning asking a few questions about the watch. That set the tone — careful, not rushed. The crown renewal service was exactly as described. No unexpected additions to the bill.
I have three watches and I've now brought two of them to Pivotwell. The Quick Tune on my everyday dress watch made a noticeable difference. What I like is that you can just ask questions — there's no sales pressure, just straightforward conversation about what might help.
Three Jobs in More Detail
A 1970s Thai-made mechanical watch hadn't run in over twelve years. The owner wanted it working again without losing its original case finish. He was unsure if that was even possible.
A complete restoration was agreed with a clear plan to service the movement and replace worn components, while preserving the case finish as-is. The crown had corroded and was replaced with a matched piece.
Movement was running at ±6 seconds per day when returned — better than its original specification. Case finish untouched as requested. Owner collected it after three weeks and wore it home.
A daily-wear watch was gaining two minutes a day. The owner had bought it second-hand and didn't know its history. He wanted to understand the state of the movement before deciding whether to invest further.
Assessment showed the regulator was set too fast — likely by a previous owner. A Quick Tune brought the rate into a normal range. The movement was otherwise sound; no further work was needed or suggested.
Watch returned the same day running at +8 seconds per day. Owner was pleased that the honest assessment didn't recommend unnecessary work. He returned two months later for his second watch.
A client had a Swiss watch with a crown that had become very stiff. She was concerned about forcing it and risking damage. The watch was also due a general seal check.
The Crown & Gasket service was carried out — the crown tube had worn and was allowing the crown to bind slightly. A matching replacement crown was sourced and fitted together with new case seals.
Crown operates smoothly. All seals renewed. Returned in three days. The sourced crown was shown to the client before fitting, which she said made her more comfortable with the process.
