What a Careful Workshop Looks Like in Practice
We're not the only place to have a watch looked at. Here is what we think makes a difference — and how we try to deliver on it.
Back to HomeSix Things That Shape Every Job We Take
Experienced Hands
The watchmaker who assesses your piece has fifteen years of movement servicing behind him. There's no junior apprentice handling work unsupervised.
Clear Scope in Writing
For any job beyond a Quick Tune, the scope is put in writing before work begins. No surprises on scope or cost when you collect the watch.
Owner Confirms Parts
Before any component is fitted — crown, gasket, jewel, mainspring — we show you what we're planning to use and why. You approve before we proceed.
Timing Machine Verification
Rate and amplitude are checked on a timing machine after regulation or servicing. The results are noted on the work record and shared with you.
Local, Accessible Workshop
We're in Khon Kaen — you can bring your watch in yourself, see the space, and speak directly with the person doing the work. No need to ship to Bangkok.
Straightforward Pricing
Service prices are posted openly. The starting point for each service is stated — and for complex work, the final cost is confirmed before we begin.
One Person, One Focus, Fifteen Years
Somchai Rungsiyakul trained in Bangkok and spent a decade working with Swiss and Japanese movements before returning to Khon Kaen. He works across a range of complications and movement types — from simple pin-lever watches to more involved column-wheel chronographs.
When you leave a watch with us, the same person who assessed it carries out the work. There's no handoff to a different technician, and no dividing of jobs between skill levels.
- Fifteen years of movement and case experience
- Swiss and Japanese movement knowledge
- Consistent hands — same watchmaker throughout
- Particular experience with vintage Thai and Japanese pieces
- Precision screwdrivers and drivers sized per movement
- Ultrasonic cleaning for disassembled parts
- Timing machine verification in multiple positions
- Magnification for jewel and bridge inspection
The Right Equipment for the Scale of Work
A watchmaker's results depend on using correctly sized tools. A screwdriver slot worn by the wrong blade, a jewel cracked by excess pressure — these are the kinds of problems that compound into bigger ones. We work with professional watchmaking instruments, not general jewellery tools.
After servicing, movements are tested on a timing machine that records rate deviation and amplitude across positions. The figures go in the work record.
You're Always in the Picture
Watch repair can feel opaque — you hand something over and wait. We try to change that. At assessment we tell you what we see, in plain terms. For longer jobs we send a note when work starts and when it's finished. If something unexpected comes up, we stop and contact you.
You're welcome to ask questions at any point. If you want to see what was found during disassembly, we can show you before reassembly. That kind of openness is how we'd want to be treated.
- Pre-work assessment explained in plain language
- Update when work starts on longer jobs
- Immediate contact if scope changes
- Open to questions throughout the process
- Prices shown per service on the website
- Final restoration cost agreed before work begins
- No charge for initial assessment conversation
- No pressure to proceed after assessment
Prices That Are Stated, Not Discovered Later
Service prices in Thai Baht are on our solutions page, with starting figures for each type of work. The Quick Tune and Crown & Gasket services have defined scopes, so the prices are consistent. Complete Restoration depends on the condition of the piece — that's why we confirm the total before starting.
If you contact us before bringing a watch in and it turns out we're not the right fit, we'll say so. No charge for that conversation.

Distinctive Features of the Pivotwell Approach
Open Assessment Process
You can sit with us during the initial examination. We talk through what we're looking at as we go. Many clients find this helpful — it removes the uncertainty of handing something precious to a stranger.
Respect for Original Character
Older watches often have patina and wear that's part of their story. Before any refinishing, we discuss what to keep and what to address. We won't buff away decades of honest use without asking.
Structured Pricing, No Hidden Additions
Our three services are each priced at a defined level. Additional work beyond scope is always quoted separately and agreed before it begins — never added to the bill at collection.
Right to Decline After Assessment
After we've assessed a watch and explained what we think it needs, you can choose not to proceed. We won't charge for the assessment and there's no pressure. The watch is returned to you as received.
Where We Stand After Several Years of Work
Bring Your Watch In or Get in Touch First
Whether you know what your watch needs or you're not sure at all, the right starting point is a conversation. No pressure — just an honest look and a plain explanation.
